$19 per hour work from home. Seeking 2 motivated professionals to join our team as Virtual Video Catalogers. These are home-based positions reporting to the Executive Content Director of the organization. The Catalogers will be responsible for tagging, describing and cataloging videos, ensuring the internal consistency and overall quality control of the organizations video discovery systems. We are home to one of the most significant historical video libraries. Additionally, the collection is equally renowned for its extensive journals and associated media. Archival cataloging of video/picture documentation from the 18th century to the present and include the records of over 65 professional medical societies and over 20 countries.

Duties and responsibilities of the Cataloger:

Perform original cataloging/classification of video and still materials in all formats and maintain authority control in the library catalog, using MARC or other appropriate schema. Perform original and copy cataloging of collection materials, including descriptive cataloging, subject cataloging, and subject classification.

Assess and as needed upgrade or correct previously cataloged materials. Apply name authority and subject authority systems, particularly those associated with or maintained by national institutions.

Ensure accurate bibliographic records, maintain records of holdings, and provide annual statistics

Establish cataloging policies and procedures

Oversee applicable government publication processing and catalog access

Manage catalog web links and metadata as needed

Update patron files and IP addresses in CMS

Work collaboratively with the remote Backup System Administrators

Required Qualifications:

Working knowledge of current cataloging and metadata 

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Supervisory experience or demonstrated potential

Demonstrated potential to meet tenure requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

1 or more year of cataloging experience in an academic library, including metadata

2 or more years of supervisory and management experience

Familiarity with Workflows, including creation of reports

These are remote staffed positions and applicants are expected to have dedicated, working environment. Equipment and applicable working platforms will be provided after hire.

Founded in 1847, the catalog is dedicated to building digital bridges among an interdisciplinary community of scholars, educators, clinicians, and the general public.
