Job Description
National nonprofit is expanding to increase impact in cities across the USA. We are looking for event management assistants to work from home in specific regions to support our conferences, job fairs, seminars and other events. These are full time home based positions working Monday-Friday during business hours with occasional online support on the weekends or evenings during events. 2-6 month contract, work as a freelancer. Contract will be renewed with satisfactory performance!
Contractor Responsibilities
– Planning and event management
– Provide feedback to potential sponsors, partners, and attendees
– Create and upkeep templates, documents and marketing materials
– Input data about sponsors and update sponsor database
– Provide internet research regarding catering, hotels, event locations, travel transfers, and supporting business providers
– Build vendor and partner database and act as liaison for regional hosting conference site
– Handle all logistics for the Local Conference in your assigned region
– Help find and train local volunteer planning teams
– Work collaboratively to support local teams
– Craft a conference budget
– Update conference websites, marketing materials and other documents with confirmed speakers, sessions, and sponsors
– Secure speakers with inclusion of all community members (underrepresented community members and people of all genders) in mind
– Choose venues and dates
– Oversee speaker programming and logistics
– Oversee venue, food, layouts, and other logistics
– Coordinate merchandise, as needed
– Online Registration & customer service
– Event marketing
Required Skills
– Great interpersonal communication skills
– Proactive project owner
– 3+ years of strong conference planning experience or complete Event Planning Foundations training
– Budgeting and financial management skills
– Familiarity with relevant technology tools
– Ability to juggle multiple priorities/events
– Familiarity with basic event marketing strategies
– Experience with Excel, Powerpoint and WordPress helpful
These are CONTRACTED positions. You will work full time during conference planning stage. (Approximately 2-4 months depending on the size of the event) – with 3-4 weeks of time off between each conference or event.
At completion of each large Conference, the contractor will be paid a full time hourly rate plus a bonus of $1,000 after the conclusion of the event. Smaller events offer a bonus of $50-$500.
