Job Description
Remote work, full time, $18/hr
We are in need of a Verification Specialist to work remotely. This position will conduct Employment, Education and Personal Reference Background Screenings as well as assisting with applications for FAFSA (Free application for Federal Student Aid). Most of the work will be performed via the telephone so we will require someone who has or is willing to install a hard-wired phone line in their home office (we cover all expenses associated with this phone line). You must also have a fax machine.
An ideal candidate has excellent communication skills and it comfortable using the phone. Will need to communicate clearly and professionally to obtain and/or validate information.
Duties:
- Assists student financial aid applicants by providing accurate information, appropriate materials, and procedural instructions for completing the FAFSA.
- Verifies data on student financial aid applications using appropriate tax information and documentation provided by the student.
- Reviews verification documents for accuracy, conflicting information and works with students & parents to resolve conflicting information and make appropriate corrections if necessary.
- Collects and record required documents related to financial aid applicants in a manner which is consistent, organized, and meets all federal, state and institutional guidelines.
- Conduct telephone calls to verify employment, education information or reference checks.
- Performs detail internet research.
- Review documents to ensure data accuracy.
- Contact schools, companies, licensing agencies and other entities via phone, email and/or web to collect and verify information needed to complete background screening requests
- Prepare accurate and grammatically correct reports summarizing the data collected from research and verifications interviews
- Conduct investigative research to ensure customer orders are processed thoroughly and efficiently.
- Handle Personal Identifying Information confidentially and responsibly
What You Need to Be Successful?
- 2 plus years of customer service, research, HR or education office experience
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Experience and demonstrable ability to research information on the web
- Strong computer experience including Microsoft Office Suite and web applications
- Experience working from home is helpful not required
- Ability to work independently with a fully equipped home office
- Maintain performance level that meets or exceeds the quality goals of the department
