Professional Accomplishments

  • Helped recreate and streamline LSTA federal grant processes.

I was the LSTA office technician for the federal grant program run by our department for public libraries, as well as support for the library program consultants and LSTA analyst.

My duties included: processing grant applications; creating and maintaining files for each grant year; helping with the planning calendar for the year, to determine workload and deadlines; help maintain master list spreadsheet for each grant year; create and maintain report tracking logs for each grant year; log and file quarterly fiscal reports for each grant; create correspondence as needed; create spreadsheets; evaluate and change grant processes if needed; create or update forms, documents, spreadsheets, data for different programs.

As a part of LDS, I also created agendas for staff meetings; create monthly reception calendars; order supplies for department as needed; troubleshoot copiers and printers; monthly timekeeping for department; create documents, mail merge, memos and other mailings for state funded programs; answer reception line and direct calls to co-workers when necessary; prepare workshop and conference packets, name tags, table tents, set up catering, prepare meeting space; general file and office maintenance.

I started at the Library in the California History Section, as an Office Assistant. For 2 ½ years I pulled photographs and books for patrons; took photograph orders, which included checking the negatives for scratches or flaws; assisted patrons with the microfilm machines; helped them with their family history research; created records for cataloging; processed incoming books and newspapers. I was transferred to Library Development Services during a restructuring of Library personnel.

I was in charge of the day to day running of the camera store, which included assisting customers, delegating job duties, and taking care of the nightly deposits. I ordered stock and supplies every week, keeping track of what we needed, dealt with customer refunds, and any customer issues.

 I also created the weekly employee schedule, hired and fired employees, and did the weekly payroll for the store.
