National Administrative Professionals’ Day (also known as National Secretary Day) takes place annually, this year on April 25th. This day celebrates the more than 4 million administrative assistants and secretaries working in the US, as well as the millions of people working in home based supportive, remote office and virtual assisting roles. Therefore, this holiday is the perfect time to pay tribute to not only the traditional administrative staff but also the remote office professionals and virtual assistants.

Administrative Professionals Day was actually created in 1952 and was originally called National Secretaries Week. Working in conjunction with the National Secretaries Association, later known as the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP), the creators wanted to encourage more people to consider careers in the secretarial administrative support field and later changed the name to reflect the changing roles in today's workforce. Today, Administrative Professionals Day is the largest non-holiday workplace observance.

This holiday, this year celebrating its 60th year, is the perfect time to pay tribute to virtual secretaries, home based customer service staff, executive assistants, administrative assistants, virtual assistants and other home based administrative workers. Many CEOs and managers will treat their secretaries and other clerical staff to flowers, lunch and gifts.
