Not all virtual assistant projects are the same.
While data entry ranks most in demand for jobs seekers, it is at the bottom of the list in salary, (do we even need to mention it is also most competitive, hardest to land and least available?)
So, what jobs offer the highest pay and best opportunities? We recently surveyed a years worth of hiring employers, job seekers and job postings are discovered the following:
Writing and Editing
If you have talent or interest in writing, editing and proofreading then you will do well as a virtual assistant. As more businesses get online and realize the importance of having a blog, the more projects come available for online content writers and editors. And most are willing to pay very well for quality content providers, sometimes as much as $300 per article.

You've probably heard it before - medical transcription is a hot field for work at home jobs. At any given time there are hundreds of virtual opportunities available for medical transcriptionists to work from home, and salary generally begins at $14-$18 per hour. The catch is - you must have at least some training but it is easily and affordably obtained online.

Paralegals and legal office professionals are some of the highest paid virtual assistants around. Generally starting at $15 per hour and up, these jobs offer excellent opportunities to have a professional level career (instead of jobs a part time job).

While administration jobs are highly competitive, they do offer excellent salary and often times, good benefits. Administration positions vary from working as personal assistants, executive assistants, administrative manager and general virtual assistants. You will earn more if you create your own successful virtual office service, but even those who work as employees will usually earn at least $12 per hour or more.

Entry level jobs that do not require experience might not be the highest paying careers in the virtual field but they do offer great opportunities to gain some experience working from home. Plus, jobs are readily available so the chances are high that you'll be hired. Once you've gained some experience you will have the opportunity to earn as much as $18 per hour.

Thousands of employers have moved their customer service departments to the virtual marketplace. This has created many great opportunities for virtual assistants to work from home helping customers with their accounts, researching membership data, providing information, completing orders and answering questions. Many employers start at $11 per hour or more and offer excellent bonus and benefit opportunities.
